SEED Tennis
HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

SEED Tennis is committed to providing a safe, healthy and enjoyable environment for all participants, coaches, volunteers, parents and visitors attending our programmes, events and activities.
All participants are expected to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and the safety of others.

SUPERVISION AND STAFFING
SEED Tennis aims to provide appropriate supervision for all participants based on the age, number, experience and needs of the players involved.

For regular junior coaching programmes, SEED Tennis generally aims to maintain group sizes of approximately 6 players per coach and normally no more than 8 players per coach.

For holiday programmes, events, competitions and other group activities, supervision arrangements may vary. Additional coaches, assistant coaches, volunteers or senior student helpers may be used to support programme delivery and participant safety.
Senior student helpers and assistant coaches may assist with activities but remain under the supervision and direction of the lead coach.

SEED Tennis will ensure that staffing levels are appropriate for the activity being conducted and that participants remain adequately supervised at all times.

PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES
Participants are expected to:
• Follow coach instructions at all times.
• Behave respectfully towards coaches, staff and fellow players.
• Use equipment safely and appropriately.
• Wear suitable clothing and footwear for tennis activities.
• Report any injury, illness or unsafe condition to a coach immediately.

PARENT AND CAREGIVER RESPONSIBILITIES
Parents and caregivers are responsible for ensuring that participants arrive prepared and fit to participate.
Children under 10 years of age should not be left unsupervised before or after lessons. Parents or caregivers remain responsible for children until the lesson begins and immediately after the lesson concludes.
Parents and caregivers must notify SEED Tennis of any medical conditions, allergies, injuries or other circumstances that may affect participation.

WEATHER CONDITIONS
SEED Tennis may cancel, postpone or modify activities where weather conditions are considered unsafe.
This may include heavy rain, lightning, strong winds, extreme heat or other hazardous conditions.
The decision to cancel or modify an activity rests solely with the coach or programme coordinator responsible for the activity.
COURT AND EQUIPMENT SAFETY
SEED Tennis coaches will take reasonable steps to ensure courts and equipment are safe prior to the commencement of activities.
Participants should notify a coach immediately if they observe any hazards or unsafe conditions.

INJURIES AND MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
All injuries should be reported to a coach as soon as possible.
In the event of a medical emergency, SEED Tennis may seek medical assistance, contact emergency services and notify parents or caregivers where appropriate.
Any medical costs incurred remain the responsibility of the participant or parent/caregiver.

FIRST AID
SEED Tennis will maintain access to basic first aid supplies during coaching activities and events.
Where possible, at least one supervising coach will hold a current first aid qualification.

INCIDENT REPORTING
Any accident, injury, near miss or significant safety concern may be recorded and reviewed by SEED Tennis to assist with ongoing risk management and programme improvement.

POLICY REVIEW
SEED Tennis reserves the right to amend this policy from time to time to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice standards.
